Pillars and Umbrellas

Pillars endure. Until the next paradigm comes up. Umbrellas give protection. But the storm bends them and they are easily forgotten. Both symbolize democracy as a condition of success for gender equality and appreciation of different realities of life. The Pillars and Umbrellas event series reflects on the core themes of gender equality, participatory justice, sustainability, and cultural diversity in a variety of formats.

The project started with the documentary and film series Visual Takes – Cyborgs in the Colors of the Spectrum, which addressed the field of tension between artificial intelligence and society on three evenings in winter 2022. Next in the series was an online lecture, which took place on March 2nd 2023. The topic was: Breaching the borders in AI: Meet China as a scientific cooperation partner from a cultural perspective.

Pillars & Umbrellas is a project of ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig in cooperation with the Gender Equality Commissioner and Women’s Representative at TU Dresden.
