Frontier AI Innovation Summit: AI Expertise in Europe

Frontier AI Innovation Summit: AI Expertise in Europe
Events

On October 7–8, 2026, ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig joined the Frontier AI Innovation Summit in Stuttgart, Germany. The event combined this year’s All Hands Meeting of the German AI Centers and the ELIAS Alliance Frontier AI Summit, bringing together Europe’s leading experts to explore how frontier AI research can be translated into societal and economic impact. Tübingen AI Center hosted the event.

Contributions

Nearly 30 team members of ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig made their way to Messe Stuttgart to join the Frontier AI Innovation Summit. Through their participation and contributions, they have played an active part in shaping the program:

Impact Talk: Bridging Data, Knowledge, and Hardware: A Neuro-Symbolic Approach to Drug Discovery

In the afternoon of the first day, Prof. Gerik Scheuermann (Director of ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, Leipzig University) gave the impact talk “Bridging Data, Knowledge, and Hardware: A Neuro-Symbolic Approach to Drug Discovery”. In his presentation, he presented key facts about ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, covering partners, important numbers, transfer activities, as well as current research highlights.

Workshop: AI in Education

Erik Marx, Chrakhan Barzanji, and Dr. Sandra Hummel contributed the workshop “AI in Education” to the program. The workshop looked into how work on AI in education is spread across many groups and disciplines within the German AI Competence Centers and the ELIAS Alliance – and why these communities rarely meet. Bringing together AI engineers building educational systems, researchers deploying and studying them, and those examining their societal and ethical implications, the workshop offered a platform to find out who else is working on AI in education, meet potential collaborators through several rounds of structured exchange, and help build a shared, living map of people, research areas, and cross-center connections.

Outlook

The Frontier AI Innovation Summit offered a great opportunity to explore synergies among European AI experts. Next year, the Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML) will host the All Hands Meeting of the German AI competence centers. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
