In a recent discussion on MDR AKTUELL, Prof. Erhard Rahm, Director of ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, outlined the current challenges facing innovation in the German context. The discussion took place as part of the Digital Summit 2024, an initiative organized by the German government on 21 October 2024, which focuses specifically on the applications of artificial intelligence.
Prof. Rahm highlighted on MDR AKTUELL a persistent problem in the field of innovation: attracting sufficient financial investment to catalyze breakthrough projects. Despite Germany’s robust academic infrastructure and research community, the convoluted landscape for raising venture capital remains a barrier. The current lack of streamlined pathways for securing venture capital is critically hampering the progress of transformative initiatives. In addition, Prof. Rahm emphasized the need to foster an entrepreneurial paradigm within the research community.
