Traffic Prevention Day 2026 in Dresden, Germany

Traffic Prevention Day 2026 in Dresden, Germany
Events

On May 9, 2026, the second Verkehrspräventionstag (Traffic Prevention Day 2026) took place in Dresden, Germany. Once again, the Living Lab of ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig was invited by Polizeidirektion Dresden to join the event. The goal was to present the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to traffic prevention.

Demonstrators

In close collaboration with the Reinforcement Learning Research Group, led by Prof. Ostap Okhrin (Chair of Applied Statistics, TU Dresden), we demonstrated state-of-the-art autonomous driving.
Dianzhao Li and Bingyu Wang used “Duckiebots” to demonstrate how their reinforcement learning algorithms can empower the future of autonomous mobility. This exhibition highlight resonated with visitors of all ages, from children to adults.

A second demonstrator illustrated how image processing can be utilized for emotion and facial expression detection. This technology aims to ensure a smoother and safer experience for passengers. Furthermore, it improves the overall interoperability between autonomous vehicles and their occupants.

Another highlight at our booth was the new Robo-Dog from the Chair of Knowledge-Aware AI, led by Prof. Simon Razniewski. The robot served as a practical example of how transfer learning can apply autonomous behaviors developed for cars to other robotic platforms.

Traffic Prevention Day 2026

The Traffic Prevention Day 2026 offered visitors the opportunity to experience the topic of traffic safety at numerous booths. Here, they were able to test their own reaction times in various simulators, e.g. a rollover simulator. Everyone interested could also check out “drunk goggles” and VR headsets simulating driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.
