The research project ‘Data Economy 4 Advanced Logistics’ at ScaDS.AI and the University of Leipzig aimed to create a platform for collecting, processing and trading data from logistics service providers, among others. Proven logistics service providers such as fox-Courier face the challenge of planning the delivery of goods efficiently and competitively while taking
various factors into account.
To this end, an application has been developed that enables fox-Courier to use a user interface to generate delivery routes in a cost-effective manner based on daily order data and available vehicles. To implement the project, reactive tabu search was implemented as a metaheuristic optimisation method to calculate optimal routes from the given order data, goods and available vehicles.
