Inspiring Research on Stage: TEDxDresden 2026
Events

On March 27, 2026, Prof. Birte Platow and Dr. Markus Wolfien took to the stage of TEDxDresden 2026. Their shared goal? Presenting their cutting-edge AI-related research to the public. As AI becomes increasingly more data-driven, complex, and influential, ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig actively connects with the public to shape a well-informed public discourse. We are proud to see two researchers of our center giving such inspiring TED talks.

The Voice of the Patient: Personalization in Precision Medicine

Dr. Markus Wolfien is a postdoc at ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, working in the topic area of Life Science and Medicine. In his talk, Precision Becomes Personal – The Patient’s Voice in the Molecular Tumor Board, he shared insights modern cancer care. In modern oncology and precision medicine, the patient experience must be included for better treatment and quality of life. He showcased how technology helps giving patients a more active voice in the treatment of their cancer.

Prof. Birte Platow: AI, perception, and a good tomorrow

Prof. Birte Platow is the leading principal investigator of the research area Responsible AI at ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig. As a theologian, she observes and shapes technological progress through an ethical lense. In her talk, AI – Perception, Ethics and Our Chance for a Good Tomorrow, she focused on how we perceive AI and what implications that has for our future.

Outlook

As AI becomes increasingly more data-driven, complex, and influential, ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig actively connects with the public to shape a well-informed public discourse. Technology does not become human-centered by default – it has to be designed accordingly. Therefore, responsibility cannot be an afterthought – it has to be the foundation.

We thank the TEDxDresden team for this wonderful opportunity to present our research to the public! For anyone who wants to take a deeper look into our research, we invite you to join our events or get in contact with our Living Lab.
