Open Day 2023 at Leipzig University

Open Day 2023 at Leipzig University
Events

On Thursday, 12.01.2023, our center at Leipzig welcomed many guests at the Open Day 2023. Especially young people were attracted to learn more about our research. By participating, our visitors could get an insight into a possible future as a research associate in the area of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.

Working with Big Data

At the beginning of our event, our visitors got an introduction into programming and working with big data sets. Data Scientist Johannes Häfner presented coding and creating graphs with Jupyter Notebook. In addition, he showed with the help of a historical data set about the Titanic disaster what you can do with AI methods for data analysis.

How to be a Data Scientist

After that, four ScaDS.AI researchers talked about their work and life. Tobias Jagla, Aruscha Kramm, Dr. Christian Martin and Dr. Frank Loebe answered questions and reflected their path into the field of Data Science. Furthermore, they gave useful tips on becoming a Data Scientist, how to choose and engage in your studies as well as on getting connected to ScaDS.AI members and their projects.

Living Lab Tour

Last but not least, our team members gave a guided tour of our Living Lab. Besides a presentation of robots, an emotion understanding computer and the clothing recommending mirror, our guests got a look at fascinating projects.

Finally, we are very happy about welcoming so many visitors. About 200 interested pupils and students were visiting us that day. We were overwhelmed by the interest and impressed by good questions about our research. We are looking forward to next year’s Open Day at our center. Thank you for attending!
