On 08.07.2024, the “Experten in eigener Sache” visited ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig in Dresden. The group advocates for people with disabilities who rely on easy-to-understand language. With their activities, they play an active role in shaping society and politics. The “Experten in eigener Sache” also host the podcast “reden; nur mit uns!”. For their latest episode, the group met our researchers Dr. Hermann Diebel-Fischer, Jan Frenzel, and Erik Marx in the Living Lab to learn more about Artificial Intelligence.
The episode “Künstliche Intelligenz” of the podcast “reden; nur mit uns!” dealt with Artificial Intelligence in general, but also answered specific questions regarding the development and use of AI-based assistance systems. Examples of use were given from the areas of:
On the topic of Large Language Models, we concluded that they can help to translate complicated issues into easy-to-understand language. Nonetheless, this sometimes works better and sometimes worse – depending on how the prompts are designed.
The meeting was very valuable and informative for all participants. While our guests learned more about Artificial Intelligence from us, we learned more about their needs and wishes for the technology. Furthermore, it was inspiring to gain an insight into the group’s work as self-advocates for people with disabilities.
