On 26.04.2023, Prof. Erik Buchmann, Principal Investigator at ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, was named an IARIA Fellow by the International Academy, Research, and Industry Association (IARIA). Since 2012, Prof. Erik Buchmann has participated at IARIA-conferences as an author (including best paper awards), reviewer, session chair and keynote speaker. The IARIA Fellowship recognizes scientists for outstanding scientific results and great commitment to the scientific community.
Prof. Erik Buchmann is a renowned researcher and academic with expertise in data management, data privacy, and security issues of sensor data, particularly in the Internet of Things.
Starting from April 2022, Prof. Erik Buchmann is a full professor for data privacy and security with a focus on AI and big data applications at ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig.
He earned his PhD from the Technical University of Magdeburg, Germany, in 2006, focusing on collaborative peer-to-peer data structures. From 2007 to 2015, he served as the head of the young researcher group “Privacy Awareness in Information Systems” at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
In addition to his work at Karlsruhe, Prof. Erik Buchmann has been a visiting lecturer at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, and a substitute professor and visiting researcher at the Technical University of Saarbrücken. In 2016, he completed his habilitation at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Since 2016, he has held the chair for data privacy and security in information systems at Hochschule für Telekommunikation Leipzig.
The IARIA (International Academy, Research and Industry Association) is a US-based non-profit organization that promotes exchange between industry and research. It is particularly concerned with promoting the next generation of scientists. As such, IARIA organizes a series of broad-based international conferences each year that have a strong practical focus.
