Oliver Welz

Hi, I’m Oliver,

part of the Transfer and Living Lab team of ScaDS.AI & an AI and robotics enthusiast.

In my role, I combine science communication with applied research. I develop demonstrators, design and lead workshops, curate the lab, and actively contribute to building a network of research and industry partners, as well as acquiring and shaping (transfer) projects, collaborations, and commissioned work. My goal is to bring research results—whether from ScaDS.AI or more broadly in AI and data science—into real-world applications.

In my own research, I focus particularly on Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models and AI-driven robotics.

I am always happy to connect for professional exchange, brainstorming, or inquiries related to our institute. I also warmly invite you to visit our Living Lab and join our monthly ScaDS.AI-Meetups.

Research Interests

My research interests lie in the field of artificial intelligence, with a focus on:

  • Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision-Language Models (VLMs)
  • Agent-based systems and multi-agent architectures
  • Generative AI and its practical applications
  • Agentic coding and AI pair programming
  • Identifying and implementing AI use cases in real-world scenarios

A particular focus of my current research is on Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models and their application in robotics (AI robotics).
