As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to redefine global paradigms, India is emerging not only as a technological powerhouse but also as a culturally pluralistic complex deeply involved in both the opportunities and challenges of AI. Against a backdrop of social dynamism, enduring traditions, and a vibrant democratic ethos, India offers a unique context for this rapid techno-transformation.
From Bollywood to Bangalore — this talk explores India’s multifaceted engagement with AI, highlighting the intersections of technological advancement with pressing societal dimensions — such as gender equality, cultural preservation and the quest for digital justice.
Jyotika Dalal is an intercultural trainer with over 20 years of experience in Germany, India and Mexico, working across both professional and academic contexts. She combines her Indian background with long-standing engagement in educational institutions worldwide, offering a well-founded and multi-perspective view on the societal dimensions of global developments, particularly in the current context of technological change. Her focus lies on cross-cultural communication and the promotion of diversity.
The Pillars and Umbrellas event series is organized by CitizenScience.AI. This is an interdisciplinary cooperation project of ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig and the Gender Equality Commissioner and Women’s Representative at TU Dresden.
