At the 9th International Summer School on AI and Big Data, Dr. Gunar Ernis (Fraunhofer IAIS) will talk about Bayesian Statistics and Machine Learning. The talk will take place on Thursday 06.07.2023 from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Bayesian Statistics are a powerful framework to think about statistical distributions and inference with associated models. In this talk we will give an overview of the main differences between the frequentist and Bayesian view on statistics. Further we introduce the main concepts needed to understand and apply Bayesian Statistics to real-world applications. The talk finishes with an overview of Markov-Chain Monte Carlo methods and its application to (simple) Machine Learning models.
Dr. Gunar Ernis is Business Unit Manager Industrial Analytics. He holds a PhD in Experimental Particle Physics and has been working as a Data Scientist at Fraunhofer IAIS since 2016. He is intensively involved in the analysis of data in the industrial environment (Industry 4.0) and is active in several projects there that deal with condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
