Speaker

Dr. João Belo

At the 10th International Summer School on AI and Big Data, Dr. João Belo will give a presentation in the field of Human Computer Interaction and AI.

Talk: Optimization methods for interface design and adaptation

This session will introduce a range of optimization techniques, encompassing exact mathematical methods, approximation algorithms, and multi-objective approaches. With hands-on examples, participants will learn how to apply these methods to problems in user interface design. We will explore how optimization can improve interaction in both established devices and emerging technologies, such as Augmented Reality.

Bio

João Belo is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Computational Interaction Group at Saarland University, led by Anna Maria Feit. He earned his PhD from Aarhus University. During his studies, he worked as a research intern at Meta Reality Labs and was a visiting researcher at the Computational Behavior Lab at Aalto University. His research centers on utilizing modeling, optimization, and machine learning to improve human-computer interaction, particularly in emerging paradigms like Mixed Reality.
