Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften Leipzig 2023

This year, ScaDS.AI is taking part in the evening event „Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften“ in Leipzig again. On June 23rd, our team is inviting the public into its center and will present interesting talks as well as an insight into our work. Since this is the first time of having the event on site since 2021, we welcome all interested people at our center in Leipzig to talk, ask and explore everything about our research.

Program

In Leipzig, following talks can be attended:

  • Chain of Thought Prompting Impuls
    • How much do all citizens of Leipzig weigh? Solving complex issues with language models.
    • Speaker: Niklas Deckers
    • Suitable for families: no

Summary:

With ChatGPT, large language models have arrived in our everyday life. However, they often do not provide a satisfactory solution for complex questions. However, by cleverly formulating the query to the language model (so-called prompt engineering), better results can be achieved. In the impulse lecture, the approach of chain-of-thought prompting will be presented. Throughout the evening, a setup will be available for participants to try out the presented approach.

  • Human vs. AI
    • Can Artificial Intelligence beat human abilities? If so, how does AI perform?
    • Speaker: Nono Saha Cyrille Merleau
    • Suitable for families: yes

Summary:

Can artificial intelligence (AI) surpass human capabilities? And if so, how does the AI do it? We will playfully explore this question by competing against an AI and solving tricky sliding puzzles. In doing so, we will try to find out what strategies an AI uses to solve the puzzles and compare them to the human approach. Come and help us to master this challenge!

  • Generating artworks by the computer – not that easy!
    • Speaker: Niklas Deckers, Johannes Häfner and Oliver Welz
    • Suitable for families: yes
    • 18:00 – 22:00

Additionally, our research assistants will demonstrate an experiment in which our guests can test themselves. By describing an image to an AI model for image generation, the visitors can try to reproduce a given picture as well as possible. Take up the challenge!
