A central goal of the German government’s national Strategy for Artificial Intelligence is to establish 100 new ArtificiaI Intelligence professorships. These include in particular the Alexander von Humboldt professorships for Artificial Intelligence, as well as AI professorships at the five Artificial Intelligence competence centers. At ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, up to 12 AI professorships and additionally two Alexander von Humboldt professorships will be established.
The Alexander von Humboldt Professorship is Germany’s most highly endowed research award and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It brings top international researchers from abroad to german universities and offers them long-term prospects here. At ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, two AI Humboldt Professors, Prof. Sayan Mukherjee and Prof. Jens Meiler, are conducting research on relevant topics in the field of AI.
At Leipzig University as well as at the TUD Dresden University of Technology, up to 12 professorships for Artificial Intelligence are established in order to increase research excellence. With that, we place applied AI research on a broad foundation.
