ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig is a national AI Competence Center based in Germany. Our work is institutionally funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Free State of Saxony.

About ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig

Our team consists of more than 180 people, including renowned international researchers as well as highly skilled professionals in administrative and communicative roles. With more than 60 principal investigators, two Humboldt Professorships and up to twelve planned AI Professorships we support excellence in research and teaching in Leipzig and Dresden. Promoting young talent is also an important part of our work, therefore we have established four Junior Research Groups that meaningfully complement our current research topics. Furthermore, we are welcoming Associated Members who contribute their expertise to our center.

Leipzig University

Leipzig University is the second oldest university in Germany. It looks back on over 600 years of tradition and is a comprehensive university with 14 faculties, 465 professorships, around 31,000 students and a variety of subjects in 158 degree programs. We are part of the network of the national AI Competence Centers based in Germany. Five of those centers, including ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, are institutionally funded under the federal government’s AI strategy. You can learn more about each center on their respective website.

In 2024, ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig is coordinating the network of the German Centers of Excellence for AI Research.
