Exploring Methods and Technologies in our Living Lab Environment

Status: open / Type of Theses: Bachelor Theses / Location: Leipzig

We offer a unique opportunity for Bachelor students to engage in cutting-edge research within its Living Lab environment. As a center dedicated to innovation and advancement in technology, we invite motivated students to join us in exploring various methodologies and technologies aimed at addressing real-world challenges.

We presents a diverse range of projects, each focusing on the investigation and application of advanced technologies within specific domains. Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Automatic Detection and Tracking in a Fisheye Camera Vitality Monitoring System

In previous work, a high-quality AI model for the prediction and classification of human poses in distorted fisheye camera recordings was developed. A basic model based on the publicly available YOLOv7 system was trained using transfer learning on self-generated video material for the categories “sitting” and “standing”. Currently, the model is being extended by an additional pose, “lying”, and efforts are being made to improve the recognition accuracy. The model will be used to monitor the vitality of individuals. In addition, a tracking function will be implemented to accurately capture the movements of individuals. This can further contribute to vitality monitoring. The model will run on an NVIDIA single board computer (Jetson Nano).
