Indonesian-German Graduate School Explores the Digital Transformation

Indonesian-German Graduate School Explores the Digital Transformation
ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig

In February 2026, we welcomed the Indonesian-German Graduate School of TU Dresden for an exchange on digitalization. Under the motto “Engineering the Future of Learning and Working in a Digitally Transformed World”, the participants got to know a variety of central units and faculties of the university and learned about their approach to digitalization in everyday work.

Program

The program offered a broad insight into digitalization at TU Dresden. It has been jointly prepared by all departments of the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS). The Center for Open Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP), under the lead of their director and our principal investigator Prof. Thomas Köhler, coordinates the program and brings all contributions together. With ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig, the participants explored the topics:

  • Future of Education: AI Based Mentoring, talk by Dr. Sandra Hummel
  • Future of Research: HPC, talk by Prof. Wolfgang E. Nagel
  • Demo-Session: HPC, tour of the Living Lab with Dr. Christoph Lehmann and Norman Koch
  • Epistemology, Religion and the Technology of Digitization, talk by Prof. Birte Platow

It was a pleasure to join this enriching exchange with the Indonesian-German Graduate School. We wish all participants an inspiring time in Dresden and much success on their PhD journey.

Indonesian-German Graduate School at TU Dresden

Under the theme „Engineering the Future of Learning and Working in a Digitally Transformed World“, 17 doctoral researchers from Indonesia are currently preparing for the start of their PhD projects at TU Dresden. Their four-year doctoral phase will begin later this summer, while the ongoing Bridging Course marks the first step of their onsite phase. It combines academic input, orientation within the German research system and early insights into research practice. The Graduate School is funded by the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (DIKTI).
