Summer School 2016

From July 11-15 2016, the Big Data Center of Excellence (ScaDS Dresden/Leipzig) was excited to host its 2nd International Summer School on Big Data in Leipzig. The summer school took place at the lecture hall building of the Leipzig University.

Program & Highlights 

The summer school provided overviews as well as deep dive sessions about the following topic highlights:

  • Big Data Storage/ NoSQL
  • Distributed Data Processing (HPC/MapReduce/Streaming/Spark/Flink)
  • Graph Analytics/Management
  • Big Data Integration

Supervised hands-on sessions were offered in three parallel tracks. Each track covered the same basic Big Data concepts but with a different use case from a different domain:

A: Text Mining (text reuse)
B: Genome Alignment Processing
C: Logistics
