Summer Schools

Since 2015, the Competence Center ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig organizes an annual International Summer School or Autumn School. These events on current Big Data, AI and Machine Learning topics do not only bring together a broader and more international crowd of participants, but also welcome internationally renowned speakers. With more than 250 registrations from North and South America (USA, Ecuador, Brazil), Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, France, UK, Romania, Ukraine), Asia (Russia, India, Thailand), Africa and the Near East (Morocco, Turkey, Iran) and Australia, the ScaDS.AI Summer Schools previously achieved a great international outreach. The ScaDS.AI Summer Schools are held alternately in Dresden and Leipzig.

In the 2022 ScaDS.AI Summer School, an all-time high of 30 acclaimed speakers gave insights into their applied AI research. Read the recap in our blog.

Due to the COVID situation, in 2020 and 2021, we have continued Summer and Autumn School program as an online-only event.

The schools aim at graduate students, PhD students, and researchers working in the areas of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. During the program, we offer inspiring insights into different research areas by internationally recognized keynote speakers. In addition to some highlights from our center, there are presentations by researchers from the network of German AI Competence Centers.

Thematically, the schools do not only focus on AI and Big Data methods from a computer science perspective, but also focus on the impact of AI and Big Data methods on science and societal processes from a legal and societal point of view.

These events provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and make new contacts with other participants and speakers.
