Summer Schools

Since 2015, the competence center ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig organizes an annual international summer or autumn school.

These events on current Big Data, AI and Machine Learning topics do not only reach for a broader and more international crowd of participants but also for internationally renowned speakers. With more than 250 registrations from North and South America (USA, Ecuador, Brazil), Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, France, UK, Romania, Ukraine), Asia (Russia, India, Thailand), Africa and the Near East (Morocco, Turkey, Iran) and Australia the ScaDS.AI Summer Schools previously achieved a great international outreach.

In the 2022 Summer School in Leipzig, an all-time high of 30 acclaimed speakers gave insights into their applied AI research. Read the recap in our blog.

Due to the COVID situation in 2020 and 2021, we continued our previous, established summer and autumn school program as an online-only event.

The schools aim at graduate students, PhD students, and researchers working in the areas of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. During the program, we offer inspiring insights into different research areas by internationally recognized keynote speakers. In addition to some highlights from our center, there are presentations by researchers from the network of German AI competence centers.

Thematically, the schools do not only focus on AI and Big Data methods from a computer science perspective, but also offer an alternative from a legal and societal perspective on the impact of AI and Big Data methods on science and societal processes.

The format of these events offers the opportunity to exchange ideas and make new contacts with other participants and speakers.
