On the 07.11.2024 at 11:00 a.m., the 29th lecture of the Living Lab lecture series will take place. In this talk, ScaDS.AI scientific researchers Dr. Sandra Hummel, Mana-Teresa Donner, Gitanjali Wadhwa, and Syed Hur Abbas will talk about Situating AI in Personalized Education.
Artificial intelligence opens up unprecedented possibilities and perspectives in the field of education. The Junior Research Group Situating AI-based Mentoring is developing an AI-driven learning assistant that provides individualized, goal-oriented support, taking into account the diverse needs and life contexts of students. In this presentation, the AI avatar SAM guides the audience through the group’s findings and approaches, demonstrating how AI can serve as a personalized mentor to shape learning processes with flexibility and context sensitivity.
The presentation begins with an overview of key research questions and introduces the technologies employed: Natural Language Processing (NLP) enables content analysis and customization, while Machine Learning (ML), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Neural Networks (NN), and Deep Neural Networks (DNN) provide data-driven adaptations and dynamic interactions. Federated Learning is used to process data in a decentralized and secure manner, ensuring the privacy of learners while allowing for continuous system improvement. Practical examples illustrate how these technologies foster adaptive mentoring and personalized learning paths, supporting skill development, social learning, and student motivation.’
