Research and Collaboration

The service center acts as an interface between the research topics of methodology and the application areas in the project. Both sides yield a big variety of experience with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, including Big Data. ScaDS.AI has developed strong regional, national, and international networks with numerous scientific and industrial collaborations in these areas and we continuously foster and welcome new ones. Through the overview of topics by the employees of the service center, relevant solutions and concepts from the research topics can be addressed and conveyed in research inquiries, including providing support in the construction of the whole data processing pipeline, use of HPC, and the overall computational approach. At the same time, the research partners gain insights into new fields of application, for example from inquiries. This allows new research impulses to be passed on to the respective areas. New projects/collaborations benefit from existing expertise in the project and the ScaDS.AI research program can be continuously expanded.

Regionally, we have a long history of strong and multifaceted collaborations with the researchers from the two universities and non-university research institutions in Dresden and Leipzig, Small and Medium Enterprises, the University Hospitals Dresden and Leipzig, the Landesamt für Umwelt, Landwirtschaft und Geologie (LfULG), the Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden (SLUB), among others. New and future regional associated partners include the Chemnitz University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy (IMW). Nationally, particular focus on industry and scientific applications have integrated ScaDS.AI into the network of German AI centers, and the larger national network of associated partners. Internationally, ScaDS.AI is expanding into multiple European networks and forming European level AI Research collaborations, as well as international collaborations with different partners such as within DAAD programs or in joint PhD programs for Project-Related Personal Exchange.
