Expert Interview with Dr. Josefine Umlauft on seismic data and glacier movement

08.04.2024 // SCADS

As part of the Digital Mobile Classroom (DigiMoK) project to promote education around artificial intelligence, coding, and robotics, expert interviews have been conducted with our researchers in collaboration with Helliwood media & education. In the coming weeks, we would like to present you with an expert video every week. As the videos are in German, we will use the blog post to contextualize them and describe the research of each expert. The fourth video in our series features Dr. Josefine Umlauft on seismic data and glacier movement.

How can artificial intelligence (AI) help accurately analyze the complex data of glacier research? Dr. Josefine Umlauft collects seismic data and studies the movement of glaciers. She explains how this data is used to track the movement of the ice and why AI is so important. She also discusses the difficulties of working on glaciers and the importance of taking safety precautions. The goal of her research is to develop better prediction models and early warning systems to increase the safety of people in vulnerable areas.
